SHMBASE

Informix 11.70
AIX 780
The following error appears in the logs. While this is a warning message, we
would like to get rid of it.
WARNING : If you intend to use J/Foundation or GLS for Unicode feature (GLU)
with this Server instance, please make sure that your SHMBASE value specifies
in onconfig is 0x700000010000000 or above. Otherwise you will have problems
while attaching or dynamically adding virtual shared memory segments. Please
refer to Server machine notes for more information.
After doing some research in the machine notes it states that
...When using IBM Informix Dynamic Server with J/Foundation, the ONCONFIG
variable SHMBASE should be set to the following:
SHMBASE 0x700000010000000...
There are numerous document stating not to change the SHMBASE. However, on one
of our test systems I changed the SHMBASE to 0x700000010000000.
Restarted the server and the message no longer appears.
Please confirm that this change will not affect anything else.
Thank you,

Christine, this should be safe. The only problem you are likely to run into
would be if SHMBASE interfered with the attach address of some shared
library. That, however, would prevent the engine from starting, so you will
know immediately.
