MESSAGE line

What's causing this little problem? (4GL ver. 4.00) When I change the MESSAGE line to LAST-1 in the OPTIONS statement, the MESSAGE line is immediately cleared away the instant the CONSTRUCT starts running and never stays displayed. But when I change the MESSAGE line to LAST-2 (or -3 or -4 etc), it stays displayed and works as it should. I have not coded *any* other Options or Attributes anywhere (screen forms, displays, windows or the upscol utility etc). Below is the segment of code in which this occurs. Can't the MESSAGE line appear on line 23 ? Can't you specify it using the syntax LAST-1 ?
