dbexport

Hi all, I have this problem : when I tried to export a db I recived this message : -242 - Could not open database table (aaa.bbb). -113 - ISAM error: the file is locked. This is configuration : SunOS 5.10 Generic_118833-36 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V245 IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 10.00.UC6 Thanks a lot

dbexport requires an exclusive lock on every table in the database. If any user is even reading a table (which holds a shared lock on the table) dbexport will get an error. This is done so that the exported data is fully internally consistent. Either you have to perform the export with all other users offline, or you can get my dbexport/dbimport replacement utility, myexport, which can produce a dbimport compatible export without locking. It also has options to use the HPloader for its data extraction and loading and can unload or load all tables in parallel making it faster than dbexport in most cases. Myexport relies on its speed and parallel processing to minimize the possibility of an inconsistent export. The myimport script can also create relational integrity constraints after the load and use constraint filtering to eliminate inconsistent data at the end of the load. Myexport is downloadable from the IIUG Software Repository and requires you to also install two (or optionally three) other packages: utils2_ak (myschema is needed from that package as dbschema's generated schema files are not dbimport compatible). sqlcmd (sqlunload and sqlreload are the default extraction/loading utilities used by myexport/myimport). myonpload (needed if you want to take advantage of the HPLoader for higher export/import speeds).
