Re: IDS/BaaN performance issues
Posted in 1999
Hi ,
Working at a site running b3 & c3 with two informix instance on the same
machine K460 , 4 Pro , 4G Mem.
Running under Baan IV c4 you can use the Informix multiplexing entry which
can be put in your sqlhosts file. I am not sure what versions of informix
cover this. Best to ask informix /Baan.
Hope you are running update statistics medium on a regular basis. With the
C4 you are using a level 2 driver which I think allows you to use Informix
Indexes as aposed to the level 1 driver which added columns called hash1...
to hashn on tables. Again ask Baan for more Info on the level 2 driver.
Documentation is very rare.
Also best check your fragmentation depending on how many companies you have
and how long you have been running. Can use following sql in sysmaster DB:-
select tabname, trunc( sum(size) * 2 , 0) Total
from sysextents
where tabname matches "*<companynumber>"
group by 1
having count(*) > 4
order by 2 desc ;
If this takes too long just unload sysextents table into file and create
table , with same columns as , in baan db in a specfic DB space not root
with an extent size set. You can then create composite index on tabname, size
which should speed up info coming back.
This gives you all the tables for a specific company which have more than
four extents and well as the size of tables in Kbytes.
Hope this is help full. Need and more Info Let me know.
Please also note the queries that Fergus Hayne or my self Pankaj Patel have
put on this user group. The answers by all the users have been of benefit as
well as helping to performance tune your system.
Cheers
Pankaj
