7.20.TC6 ? Upgrade comes to mind rapidly.
If you are planning to backup the chunks and then restore them from tape,
this is unlikely to work.
You need to perform an Informix Archive (ontape) to create an archive file
which can then be backed up. This does work!
The chunk files are in a constant state of change (assuming the Informix
engine is running) and are unlikely to be restored into a consistem state.
I have seen people who backup chunks assured that nobody is using the
system at the time, and have come to grief as the database comes down in an
inconsistent state and is consequently unusable.

hello world,
we're running an ids 7.20 te6 on nt4 sp3. we also want to use our current
backup tools veritas netbackup 3GA or backup exec 7.2, both running on nt
servers, to backup the ids. is there someone who knows if this works.
unforntunantely on vertias' internet site i have not found any hint about
this.
tia marco
P.S. is ids 7.20 te6 millenium compliant ? if not, what are the problems
and
how to solve it ?
