I am new to informix and attempting to tune our configuration. Ten extents is no big deal. However 100 probably is unless that table if a few hundred GB in size. You can use ALTER FRAGMENT...INIT IN... to compress the tables. If you ALTER TABLE ... NEXT SIZE... and set the next extent size to some significant % of the total table size before doing the ALTER FRAGMENT the table will be reorged quickly into a minimum number of new extents and will be less likely to fragment in the future due to the larger extent size.
