Onstat does not query any system tables (I assume you are talking of
tables in the sysmaster database). It's the other way round. When you
query a sysmaster table, online treats this as a special case and
returns information directly from the appropriate shared memory
structures instead of accessing normal database tables via the buffer
pool. Onstat directly attaches to shared memory and accesses the same
structures directly without the help of the database engine.
In the case of "onstat -g mem" there seems to be no corresponding
sysmaster table at all.
