I am trying to configure our environment to run java apps against Informix but I am running into some configuration problems. The java app I am running is fairly basic - connect, do a select, and disconnect. After RTFMing, I am still left with some unanswered questions. Q: Based on my configuration below, does something seem setup incorrectly? Q: How does Java locate .odbc.ini then use it to resolve DSN? Q: Where should .odbc.ini be located? Q: Does .odbc.ini support env variables, ie. Driver=$INFORMIXDIR/lib/cli/iclis09a.so? My environment: --------------------- Solaris 2.6 JRE 1.1.7_05 IDS 7.23 UC1 Intersovle ODBC 3.01.UC1 Sample .odbc.ini: ---------------------------- [ODBC Data Sources] dsparky=UWS Development ; ; Define ODBC Database Driver's Below - Driver Configuration Section ; [dsparky] Driver=/opt3/informix/dev/lib/cli/iclis09a.so Description=UWS Development Database=duws HostName=klinger LogonID=odbcusr pwd=odbcpsw Service=dsparky_tcp Protocol=onsoctcp Servername=dsparky_tcp TIA Steve Romankiw
Try Informix JDBC type 4 driver, just download from www.informix.com I think ODBC has problems with prepared statements and stored procedures calls. I was happy with that.
