Couldn't one just do an onstat -k and find which sessions are having a shared lock on the database and kill those ?
For me, yea, bounce the engine is the quickest, but just for sake of argument....

Don't know why, but it would not be simple. Even the init sessions
appear in the session list the same as all other connections so it
would be awkward to determine what should be retained and what should
be terminated.
You either have to restart the engine (what is the problem with this?)
or manually terminate every application session.
Why are you exporting, what are you tryng to achieve?
Just seen next message !
Under windoze you need to use services to stop and restart the engine
not command line. (Sorry, I'm unix)
