compiling w/ datablade api

Has anyone tried compiling code that uses the datablade API under IUS? Where are the libraries located? I tried compiling the simple "connect1.c" in the Datablade API Programmer's Manual, but was not successful. I need to include libraries that define necessary functions like mi_connect and mi_close.
