DSA 7.22.UC1/HPUX 10.20

Let's try this one more time. The original appears to be munged... David Hi. I have an odd problem here. DSA 7.22.UC1 is demonstrably slower on my HP 9000/K420. I have an EMC disk array with 56Gb attached, 4 cpu's and 1Gig real memory. Disk I/O screems during insert/update, performance is beyond reproach during index builds, etc. The problem is that queries are slow. This wouldn't be much of a problem, except that we're replacing an old Unisys running 7.10.UC5 that should be 5-7 times *slower* than the HP, based on the usual metrics. Queries, though, that take sometimes hours longer to complete. We've checked all the usual suspects. Indexes are in place, with a recent update statistics high being completed on both machines. Indexes show no corruption, on either box. Disk could be a little better balanced, but the difference is (for the most part) within 15-20% of average. There is *nothing* else running of substance on the HP at the same time. Glance shows 50% memory used, with CPU utilization down in the weeds. Any and all idea are welcome here. I'm about to begin pulling my hair out, and I happen to *like* my hair, so I would prefer to refrain. If responding, BTW, it would be best back to the newsgroup...email is still hosed here rather well and thoroughly. The proper address, though, is dcoburn@wvus.org. Thanks, David
