-25587 Network receive failed

Aix 5.1L Informix 7.32 UD6 A night batch process keeps failing about 50% of the time, with this error: -25587 Network receive failed. Yet there is no networking involved, the process is started on our IBM pSeries 650 and ends there. The process used to work perfectly every night running on Aix 4.3.3 on a different server, an IBM F50 on Informix 7.31 UC3.

Dear Catherine, Error 25587 says 'Network..' , however, that is a bit misleading. It just means that there was an error in the ommunication protocol between SQL client and IDS server. Please switch the connection protocol to TCP/IP. The problem is a known prodcut defect of the Informix client on AIX POWER4 machines in the shared memory connection (IPC protocol) . TCP/IP as connection protocol circumvents the problem.
