Bit of a general question but, can anybody tell me how to monitor Informix-SE 5.0 specifically with regard to performance. I come from an IDS background, is there an equivalent ONCONFIG, where is it, basic stuff, just need someone to point me in the right direction. Thanks Cy
Informix Standard Engine is the co.'s strictly file-based DBMS. Tables are comprised of 2 files: one a datafile, the other an index file which, if I recall correctly, provides pointers into the data file. There is no equivalent $ONCONFIG file. There are no other monitoring utilities that I recall. Backup is handled via O/S backup. There is a utility called bcheck which can be used to determine the health of the tables' index files. I don't recall parameters to that command. Informix does indeed publish documentation on the product but, thank you Informix, they are not available through the co.'s website.
