response time

We are running Informix Online Dynamic Service 7.23 UC1 in an RS6000 with AIX 4.0. We have tried to create a script to measure the response time of each command and report it. But we have not got any luck yet. Has anyone out there had any idea of this response time, will be willing to give an example of their script or any suggestions? Thanks for the input.
