So far, I've used separate programs written in Oracle Pro*C and Informix ESQL/C. The Pro*C program reads from the Oracle DB and writes the results to stdout. The ESQL/C program calls the Pro*C program via "popen" and parses its output line by line. Not very elegant, but has been working for years. For another application, I now have the need to dynamically verify Informix data against an Oracle DB. I'm planning to "encapsulate" the Oracle functionality into a function, compile and _statically_ link that into an object file using Pro*C and then link that object file with the ESQL/C program. I haven't had time to try that yet, but the first challenge might be doing the statical linking. So far, I haven't found out how to do that with the Pro*C version we have (8.0.6).
