Re: compress

The key words in this question is "up to 8 gig". With compression of any kind, you are dealing with imprecise quantities. No one will be willing to state that "it will hold 8 gig compress", rather they will state "up to". This leaves open the probability that the stated "8 gig" will not be reached. Generally, I've recommended that compression not be used because of this rather imprecise quantity. Customers have tended to forget about the "up to" part of the vendors' claims when calling about a problem. We can't promise that this will work. However, 8 gig is a rather large buffer for your 2.3 gig database, so you might get by with it. One other thing to be aware of - backups using compressed data can take longer to backup (and restore) than uncompressed backups. This is due to the overhead of compression itself. >I am with Online 5.03 on HP/OS 9.02. We have 2.3 gig of data base.
