Report error 9001 - problem with CLIPPED

We ported our informix database from AIX INFORMIX-SE 4.10 to AIX INFORMIX-SE 7.12 and new with NLS-support. The database itself works fine. But now, the reports got trouble with formatting CHAR-variables like CLIPPED or "print charvar[1,50]". The error appaears at runtime. The same reports worked fine before the update. Any ideas?
