Re: Want to buy informix for SCO UNIX

Jason, Wish granted <sort of>... Informix has announced a scaled back version of OnLine to be known as OnLine Workgroup Server. For $199 a user, it's a version of OnLine which supports everything except for the very high-end features (multiple processors, data replication among others). The problem is, of course, that Informix still won't port a version to Linux. This is because, (as the story goes) Linux is an OS which is unsupported by anyone. But, I've recently heard that some commercial organization (sorry, I don't know who) will be offering Linux support for a price. Personally, I'm not interested in such a service, but perhaps it will be enough to convince Informix that Linux deserves a port all its own! Of course, this still doesn't address NewEra, 4GL, etc. But, it may be a step in the right direction. --Craig (craig@chemistry.utah.edu) } } > Here's a marketing opportunity, Informix.
