i am running sql version 7.20.UD3
'update statistics' returns the following error:
689: Global variable (variable-name) declared inconsistently.
this is the type of error i thought would only happen in 4GL code. i am at a
loss as to what could cause it in an SQL stmt, run from 'isql'. any
suggestions as to where to start looking?

I'm not sure ISQL recognises the UPDATE STATISTICS statements. Have
you tried it in dbaccess? If it works there this is the problem. ISQL
does only support a subset of the DDL (older commands).

turns out that the global variable in question is multiply defined in some
stored procedures on the system. this was apparently allowed on the old
system, v5.x, but now IFMX catches it ... thanks anyway
