Re: Market Share

The most recent analyst reports collectively had 1994 UNIX RDBMS marketshare (by revenue) approximately Oracle 35%, Sybase 20%, Informix 20%. The balance consists of many DBMS products including Allbase/SQL, Ingres, Interbase, DB2/6000, Unify, Progress etc. If you look at the numbers by units shipped (rather than $ revenues), then you will see Informix as the market leader with just less than 40%. This reflects on the fact that Informix sells more DBMS software through applications vendors and other resellers than either Oracle or Sybase. You can get the actual numbers from many analyst firms including the Gartner Group and IDC.
