We had a similar problem on the Sun. The substring query was chopping
off the first character of the string was returning. We found out that this
only occurred if 1) there was an ORDER BY clause 2) if the substring
was not the last field requested in the SELECT clause, and 3) PDQ was
truned on.
e.g.
SELECT f1, f2[1,3], f3
WHERE ...
ORDER BY ...
did not work.
SELECT f1, f3, f2[1,3]
WHERE ...
ORDER BY ...
did work.
Informix was notified and knows about the problem.
Hope this helps.
