Re: Any Tricks For Installing Server then Tools
Posted in 1999
Hi David, I will give this a whirl ... thanks .. I know that the $INFORMIXDIR/msg folder gets corrupt ... but this is a pain as I am sure it is for others to. Is this the only directoy that gets mucked up from Informix ... from installing another product in the same directory? This may be a dumb question ... but would it not be easier ... just to force the cpio, tar , or rpm files (whatever informix wants to pack them under) to not copy over an existing file if one exists in that directory? I know these utilities allow this feature? Would this create problems? This makes more sense .. unless there is something I am missing from here? You know ... the simpliest of things ... cross your mind ;-) Any response appreciated. Lloyd AJ Wilson.
