LET strg = 'myprog param1 param2" RUN strg What is more interesting is getting a retun code BACK from the script in question. RUN strg RETURNING retcode will give you the return code - as long as you divide it by 256. If you need to return more than just a return code, have the script dump it's output to a file, once back in 4gl create a temp table, load the temp table from the file and then you can read it. cheers j. ori96@batelco.com.bh on 05/19/98 01:45:11 AM To: informix-list@iiug.org cc: (bcc: Jack Parker/Boston50/Epsilon) Subject: how to? Hallo everybody, I am writing a 4gl program in which I want to pass a value to a shell script and I am not sure how to do it. From the 4gl code I try to use : run "myscript" but I want to pass a value from the 4gl to myscript and then read it from inside the script. Regards Osman
