I-NET Relay module-does it work

During the process of Installing Informix 5.01 products I found out that the Relay Module component of I-NET 5.01 works only with tools of version 5.01. I tested that and found taht it works with dbaccess, which is the only 5.01 version tool that's available. Now the question is, is there anyone out there who has managed to use relay modules with other tools like 4gl or isql. If you have managed to do this, how big is the advantage of relay modules compared to using sqlexec process on the client side?
