Do you think you would get happy users running 4gl code in a GUI environement. Why not continue using 4gl applications on Unix and port to something else that is designed for GUI development when moving to a GUI environement. There simply is no way to make a character based, non event driven, language usable as a GUI tool. That is short of implementing event handling, which is what Informix did with NewEra. It's a dream that will never come true to be able to use 4gl code directly in a GUI environement and get happy users of true GUI applications. All you can do is a more or less bad GUI emulation that could have been a stop gap solution. But is that still interesting. Aren't users now demanding more?
