Help: Looking for an API for web-database

Hi, We want to build a web database using Netscape and Informix. We will use Perl to write the CGI, but don't know what API/Lib we should use between CGI and Informix. From the Informix web page, under the Freeware Solution Available section, I saw several different free libs such as "isqlperl", "GSQL", and "WDB". Does anybody has experience with these, or other libraries that I am not aware of? Do you know how good these libraries are? Please give me some suggestions. Thanks! Informix's web page indicates that the above mentioned free libraries have no support for inserts, updates, deletes, and BLOB data types. Does it mean it is not safe to use them for doing insert, update, and delete?? We must provide these functions in our database. Thank you for your info in advance!
