Not true. Oracle does parallelize a query (or index build or load or ....) across multiple CPU's. Given a single query, Oracle will process it using as many or as few CPU's as you want. Does someone want to define what 'core internal parallelism' really means? >So either is good for OLTP, but Informix can be >presumed to be faster for DSS. >Regards >-- >-- >Peter Tashkoff <tashkop@kiwi.co.nz> >Project Consultant/DBA >NZ Kiwifruit Marketing Board Usual >Disclaimers Apply >-------------------------------------------------------------------------- >ALL RIGHTS RESERVED >This posting is copyright and may be used only for >the purposes >of professional study or the professional exchange >of information. >Use of this posting by any commercial organisation >for the >purposes of vilifying another is explicitly prohibited >--------------------------------------------------------------------------- >>>> Rajasekhar Gunturu ><rgunturu@ernie.eecs.uic.edu> 17/April/1996 >04:47am >>> > i'm looking for comparison info on : > oracle vs sybase vs ingres vs sybase. > the parameters i'm specially interested in are: > > locks(row level or page level) > parallel query support > retrieval/processing speed > optimizer info(cost based/rule based) > memory efficiency > interoperability > platforms supported > i'd appreciate if someone could mail this info >or guide me to a website, that u know of > thanks, > raj > > > > > > > Thomas Kyte tkyte@us.oracle.com Oracle Government -------------------------------------------------------- opinions and statements are mine and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Oracle Corporation.
