Re: Stable Informix on HP/UX 10.01

Don: We're an HP-UX 10.01, SAP R/3 shop currently running Informix Online 7.2. We upgraded to 7.2 with an SAP upgrade about a month ago. Thus far, we have not experienced any problems specifically with this level of the Informix engine. We've been running HP-UX 10.01 since early February. However, we did fight a shared memory problem with HP-UX 10.01 that would crash our Informix engine periodically when attempting to allocate a new shared memory segment. This problem occurred at our prior Informix engine level (6.00.UXH15), also. The problem was caused by an HP-UX 10.01 bug that arose when trying to allocate a shared memory segment with an address starting with x'8'. The fixing HP patch was PHKL-7593 and took care of our problem. Keep in mind that our 7.2 level of the Informix engine might be slightly different than other 7.2 engines for non-SAP installations, since the Informix engine is shipped and installed as part of the SAP R/3 installation process.
