I couldn't find it in the FAQ, but it might be there, in which case
sorry for asking.
Informix Online 7.1, SparcStation4, Solaris2.5, originally installed
without NIS, and NIS added recently.
I have a database called "intranet", and I can connect to it using
dbaccess in a perfectly normal way from the host without problems.
However, when using a remote machine (we have /etc/hosts.equiv set
up to allow all machines to share each other's resources), I now
find that I need to set the server up to have my username in
/etc/passwd and password in /etc/shadow, otherwise dbaccess
reports that the username isn't known by the server.
Surely Informix Online uses proper system calls to interrogate
details of the user, rather than accessing the passwd/shadow files
directly? I can't find anything in the "onconfig" file that
indicates whether there's a flag I've missed...
Please email me and I'll post the results to the group as well
as to the IIUG.
Thanks
Paul
P.S. note the mangled email address to trip-up spam-'bots!
