Call for volunteers - fgllint
Posted in 2009
I'm looking for a couple more sites to help test out new 'fgllint' product. The idea is to process 4GL code and look for any 'strange' coding, substantially over and above the normal checks a 4GL compiler does. Its like C's 'lint' tool - hence the name :-). It can also test adherence to coding standards which would be ideal for those doing inhouse or oursourced development, as it allows you to quickly and easily check the quality of the code being developed (it even generates code metrics, lines of code, whitespace, comments, complexity etc). It can detect large numbers of potential problems - (currently has 92 different categories of warnings & errors! ) Ideally we'd like any volunteers to help test the curent code, and identify any more warnings we should be generating (eg. for local coding standards compliance checking, enforcing good practice etc)... 'fgllint' should work with any standard Informix4GL 4GL code - so you dont need to be using Aubit4GL. We've got quite a few of the common 4GLs extensions in there - so you might even be able to use it with 4GL code specific to some of the 'other' 4GL variants. Thanks in advance.. -- Mike Aubury http://www.aubit.com/ Aubit Computing Ltd is registered in England and Wales, Number: 3112827 Registered Address : Clayton House,59 Piccadilly,Manchester,M1 2AQ
