Basically the ace or 4gl report issues a header and trailer section around the data it wants printed as a bar code. The report is then piped through the filter into the print spooler. The filter passes everything through as is but, when it comes across the start sequence, converts the following data into HPPCL commands to print the bar codes until it meets the end sequence. It has variable height as well. I'm not sure what format it does.
