I asked for: > User A is prompted to delete record #1. In the meantime, user B does > whatever he/she wants. User A accepts delete, start transaction, delete > commit. > > etc,etc ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Since I found time to read the C-ISAM Manuals (4.1 and 7.1), a saw that the the Data files are holding a flag which indicates that the record is deleted (ASCII null) or not. The Offset for this flag is record-length, and flag length is 1. Is This flag maintained by C-ISAM and when, how? In view of my above question, I understood the correct and more practical behaving of C-ISAM that, isbegin (starting up a new transaction) opening a file with ISTRANS reading and record is locked deleting this record, nothing happend but delete flag is set other process would see the deleted record on reading but it is still locked -> iserrno 107 (record is locked) now commit, record is removed or rollback, just delete flag is reset My Question is addressed primary to the Informix C-ISAM developers. -- Chris Drauch ...................................................................... . c/o DRAUCH Ges.m.b.H.
