What you, personally, want, is no doubt not |> the exact same set of postings as others want. I haven't noticed a great deal of traffic to this group, nothing really very heavy technically, not a lot of grossly commercial postings, either. I have noticed a number of headhunter postings to this group that I'm none too fond of and no one has complained. But that is neither here not there. The one person who has e-mailed me has agreed with me. |> |> Balkanization is inevitable, with growth, and sometimes desirable. That's why I suggested "just one more" group, |> biz.informix, for the marketing type stuff. I don't disagree. If you noticed, I said that since customer related press releases were purely marketing related, they probably didn't belong in this group. But I want non-technical stuff, too. Release info, world wide conference into, training schedules, etc are OK by me. It's the "I just sold a million dollars worth of hardware/ software to client x", "buy our product, please", "we are a consulting company specializing ..." and the "we need a client server squeegee developer in Tallahassee, comp-sci degree or 74 years of experience needed" type postings that don't belong here. SO I agree that the posting which started this thread does not belong here. :-) But other non-technical postings may have their place. |> |> My main concern is not with informix material, per se, the but stand we |> take. No headhunter postings, either, OK? |> |> Think five years down the road, where do you want to see Usenet? Home Shopping Network? ;-) DCT "I want a monster! Get me a monster now!"
