ESQL/C, NewEra or other ?

Hello, I am on charge of a project about network management. Informix database server is used for storage of network status and error messages. The message are put into database automaticlly by StrataView (a network manage software), and I want to do some statistic work on these messages and produce status and error reports every day or week. But I do not know which tool or method is better for this work. ESQL/C may need hard work in GUI. What about NewEra? Is there any other powerful tools?
