I am not a programmer! If you mean "can I attach a SET LOCK MODE WAIT [n] to a specific cursor", the answer is no. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2003.04 -- http://dbi.perl.org/

I am not a programmer! Why would someone say "don't use cursors" ? That's almost completely the wrong advice. If you are talking about 4GL then an inline SQL which could be prepared/declared instead will put more load on the database. Notwithstanding the recent(ish) addition of an SQL cache which has admittedly made the situation a lot better. Note to self: test the performance differences between cursors vs. lazy-code that now exploits the cache. Has anyone got any hard reliable numbers that weren't derived from a highly artificial lab test?
