No. you're thinking of chunk sizes. Flat files are governed by UNIX.
Check the kernel parameters again. There might be a system wide ulimit
as well as a user ulimit. Also I've seen this problem where people
assumed the block size was 1024 when in fact it was 512! So make sure
your ulimit IS what you think it is. ;-)
