RE: NVL in Informix?

---------- From: P.Xeros[SMTP:pxeros@central.tee.gr] Sent: Wednesday, February 11, 1998 3:33 AM If a (char)column has null values and you concatenate(||) this column with another non null(char), then you will get a null value(expression). Oracle for example has NVL(column, "value") function which allows you to "say" what value you want to be returned if the value of the column is null. Is there any way to do this in Informix without writing 4gl code(just SQL statements)? JL: It is easy enough to write a stored procedure to do the job, and it can be used in SQL (or I4GL), but it isn't just SQL. Version 7.3 should have NVL as a built-in, I think.
