Reading BLOB descriptors

Ok, here we go again. If this comes out more than once, please blame it on my Internet provider, since something didn't work right the first 2 times. I am using Informix 7.11, with Storage Manager 2.11 for Optical. Because of a problem with reading the images, I would like to be able to read the blob descriptor for the byte field, parse it for the values contained therein, possibly change the size field, and update/insert the field back into the table.
