/.rhosts & /etc/hosts.equiv file

Hi All, Prior to installing Informix 7.2 on AIX 4.3 , do i need to add the hostname in the /.rhosts and /etc/hosts.equiv files , (if my machine's using DNS for name resolution ) , for the informix installation to work correctly ? The installation program completed successfully , without adding the hostname in the /.rhosts & /etc/hosts.equiv file. Would it cause any problems later ?
