Re: Canvassing opinion - from RDS version 4 to wha
Posted in 1998
Hi! In light of the current Product Lifecycle schedule posted at Informix's website, 4GL Compiled and RDS version 6.0x are due to move to retirement (Category 4, in Informix's terminology) on June 30, 1998. This means that users planning an upgrade should try to negotiate for the 7.2x versions. I'm sorry I don't have the url close by for this info, so if you'd like to get the schedule in Excel 97 format, give me a holler from the address you'd like me to send it to. Basically, Ian, I also advise upgrading to the latest, but if the latest is 6.0x, then you may have to do another upgrade after June 1998, at an extra cost (cheap though, if you're covered by Informix's maintenance contract, which you will be if this is a new purchase).
