I wish they could just place a large button on the Informix main page, called DOCUMENTATION ! a Shortcut straight to the documentation ... All I see is "Home Products Services & solutions Support & downloads My account" -----Original Message----- From: owner-informix-list@iiug.org [mailto:owner-informix-list@iiug.org] On Behalf Of Data Goob Sent: 04 March 2005 05:00 PM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: IDS 10 Download? John, I appreciate your cynicism! 8o) But, uhm, have you really been to the IBM web site lately? There are so many confusing pages the site is a nightmare--and I don't think I'm the only one who shuts down when thinking about where to look for something on that website. It's too confusing, so a direct link where to look for something is invaluable. Not to mention how tinyurl came about simply because of sites with links that are impossible to remember or type into a browser. You should join in with the rest of us who have to use IBM's web site on a daily basis for TSM or AIX--or DB2 for that matter, trying to figure out what patches to apply or get straight answers on software and what it works on. Then imagine the site slowing down to a crawl trying to get a file with FTP, or docs that are listed but you can only download one at a time because they decided to pop-up all the PDFs into the same window. So, to assume that I could actually find the Informix download in less than 5 minutes is the exception rather than the rule when it comes to the mess of shit that comprises the IBM website. From there just select "Library" from the menu at the left. On the library page in the list under the title "Tech resources" are entries for "Manuals online", "Documentation notes", "Machine notes", and "Release notes" among others. You select the one you want, I guess "Manuals online" in this case. On the Manuals main page are sections. Scroll down to "Database Servers" and select the appropriate server release to see the manuals for your version. Easy as pie. Art S. Kagel

Have you requested a modification? At the bottom of the page is a link (Contact) that will allow you to email IBM with web-site feedback. There are no guarantees that they will do anything about it, of course, but there is no harm in asking. > > All I see is "Home Products Services & solutions Support > & downloads My account" > Though it isn't as obvious as a link called 'Documentation', the 'Library' link on the left side of the page will get you to a number of articles, technical briefs, and the documentation. -- June Hunt
