Help on SPACE REQUIRED BY ONLINE
Posted in 1996
Hello and Thanks in advance, I need to configure and test Informix OnLine 7.12 UC3 on a HP9000 E35 server with 64MB RAM(HP-UX 9.04) and 1CPU. Actually I'm using Informix-SE 5.04, and the database is 450MB. The server has 3 HD of 2GB each, for a total of 6GB of disk space. Question: Considering that I need 1.5GB for the system(HP-UX, users account, swap, software and future growth) a)With the remaining 4.5GB, how big should be my "critical" rootdbs (included physical logs and logical logs) excluding the 450MB database that will be located on a separate chunk? b)Could I use the 3 disks(2GB each) like this: -disk1: 1.5 system and the rest for a future chunk -disk2: a unique chunk of 2GB for the rootdbs -disk3: "split" the 2GB in two chunks for two separate dbspaces(to locate the actual 450MB database) Details: Usersthreads: 50-70 HP-UX page size: 2k Database: 450-600MB Disks: 3 of 2GB each(totally mirrored with Raid) HP-UX: 9.04 Please give me a "starting point" in order configure the engine. It is my first time with OnLine and it is very difficult to evaluate spaces and disk layout!!!! Regards.
