Hi All ,
I need a bit of advice on the way my informix instances on a database
server are set up.
Informix version 7.22.UC3
HP-UX 10.20 K460 box
Number of processors 3
Number of Informix instance 2
Question being :- How do I set up the CPU parmaters in my onconfig files and
the NOAGE paramter ?
The current set up of my CPU paramters is as follows .
instance 1 :-
MULTIPROCESSOR 1
NUMCPUVPS 2
SINGLE_CPU_VP 0
NOAGE 0
instance 2: -
MULTIPROCESSOR 1
NUMCPUVPS 2
SINGLE_CPU_VP 0
NOAGE 0
Thanks

Looks good to me except that NOAGE should be 1 on HPUX for best
performance. Engine processes are essentially long running processes and
as such HPUX will lower the priority of the oninit's more and more over
time without NOAGE set. You can probably get away wit using 3 CPU VPs per
instance on K460 but with 2 instances maybe not. Are you using affinity?
That may also help a bit. Also make sure that you have all of the
recommended HPUX patches so KAIO can be enabled. On HPUX KAIO is disabled
by default you can enable it with "export KAIOON=1" in the server's
environment before startup if all the patches are in place (if not it may
get errors on start up or just be very slow) see the release notes.
