However, we do have a lot of 4GL code with FORMS (*.per) that will stop working with SQL SERVER as the back-end. 1. We are thinking of a complete re-design of our 4GL application but this is going to be a huge task. 2. We have also looked at 4Js but the bosses do not seem to want to throw money at this product (as they just want to get rid of all the 4GL altogether and move to SQL SERVER and start using .net technologies and JAVA etc etc ....) However, we (sneakers !!!) are also looking at other alternatives and if there anyone out there who has migrated from Informix to SQL and who would like to share with us their success story.... ---------------------------------------------------------------- Lovells is an international law firm. You might want to consider holding off for just a bit. You will be able to access db2 with 4gl and esql/c in the not too very distant future. In the meantime, Informix should be great. db2 will run on the same platform as SQLServer (as well as sveeral others), and be more robust as well as more configurable, and puportedly faster. cheers j. > > From: "Charles, Emma" <Emma.Charles@lovells.com> > Date: 2003/09/29 Mon AM 11:24:22 CDT > To: ids@iiug.org > Subject: Migrating from Informix to SQL SERVER [1948] > >
