Yes, Yes, Yes. NEWERA may not be the best GUI tool out there but at least it has true OO and provides an integrated solution method for enterprise development at both the server and client end. We are currently building an enterprise OLTP application from detailed OO analysis that would not have been possible to do without NEWERA in the time restrictions that are imposed. (yes we looked at VB) NEWERA does not have to be the best GUI tool either as long as there is support for industry (MS) standard component reuse, ie OLE, OCX etc. which INFORMIX has already committed to and are delivering on (3.1). NEWERA strength is not flashy controls, but strong integrated support of OO principles. NEWERA is on the verge of reaching a stability plateau that in it self must give the tool some appeal to developers because I for one would like a little stability in a application project that by necessity must span some years of work. I think it is a little early to give up on NEWERA if you are developing serious mission critical applications and as yet Informix at least in discussions with me are still committed to this product.
