Violations and Filtering mode

Hi, I was trying to catch the rows which disobeyed a constraint ,So I started violations on the table , set constraints disabled , did the data insert/update then enabled the constraints , looked into *_vio,*_dia tables. Question: What is the filtering mode used for ? How does it help ? TIA Sathish
