Disabling LRU flush
Posted in 2012
Hi, IFX 11.70 FC 5 Innovator-C , Linux 64bits OpenSuse. I'm working with database load. Basically I'm using HPL, unfortunately some tables have huge rowsize0 (1 row size = 2 pages) and lvarchar datatype which force use deluxe mode. Consequently use buffer pool , and then LRU flush... which have terrible I/O ... compared to checkpoint flush. I want to disable (literally) the LRU flush temporally , during my load... because just tunning it isn't enough... What I need: If the buffer pool have full dirty pages, execute a ckeckpoint (blocked or not...) and never not start LRU flush. Now, once they start the LRU , there is no way to "migrate" to a checkpoint... need to wait... and how my load keep working (because have much more data incomming), the dirty pages still incoming and the LRU flush never finish... how I have a "little" buffer pool since I'm using Innovator-C (2 GB total) which give me +- 1.7 GB of buffer... my job loads this buffer with dirty pages less of 5 seconds... (I not try configure a checkpoint interval every 1 second... and I want avoid that...) other ideas??? Regards Cesar
