I recently had a Sun 3510FC RAID 10 failure and the performace tanked when a single drive failed. The system had no hot spare so there was no rebuild going on. I had left the bad drive in the array until Sun service arrived. It turned out the failed drive was in a weird state where the controller kept trying to communicate with it. Once the drive was pulled the performanace came back to normal. I would recommend pulling any failed drive to prevent any performance issues. Gary Quiring
