Look for tbmode -z as well as indepth explanation for how to deal with this. But before you use this, you'd have to make sure that: 1: The user is not in a critical section. 2: The user is not holding any latches. This is all i can remember offhand (manual is at work). This is for OnLine 5.x. Don't know what you'd do if you've got 7.x. The basic theory is that if the process was in the middle of a critical section (i.e. changing data) then if the process is killed abnormally it could leave your database in an inconsistent state (transaction incomplete) so OnLine aborts immediately. When the system is restarted, Fast Recovery will cause the affected transaction (as well as any that were open at the time of the abort) to rollback, thus leaving your database with it's integrity intact (and you with a few angry users!). That's all I remember. Hope it helps.
