Legato tape capacity for Informix data

We are backing up an Oracle database to a Sun ETL with dual dlt7000 drives using raw directives for Veritas volumes and seeing 100-200GB per tape as a result. I am trying to do the same with Informix 7.2.2 on a comparable machine with an ETL with dual dlt7000 drives using raw directives for Veritas volumes and seeing 40-45GB per tape as a result. Sun has said that is a function of how compressible Informix data is compared to Oracle data as it sits on the disks. That Oracle data is more "holey" (not to be confused with Holy) than Informix data as it sits on disks. Anyone ever heard this before? Anyone getting better per tape loading of Informix data via Solstice Backup 5.1 (Legato Networker)?
